Journalist and commentator Tiago Leifert shared a curious experience from his time at Prime Video, involving a match between Flamengo and Altos-PI. In an interview with Charla Podcast , he highlighted how the way he narrates can influence fans' perceptions, especially when it comes to one of the most popular and media-savvy clubs in the country.
"When I was on Prime Video, I commentated Flamengo vs. Altos-PI. In my naiveté, I gave a balanced commentary. I'm from São Paulo, and little did I know that Flamengo fans aren't used to balanced commentary," Leifert said, explaining that his stance caused a strong reaction on social media immediately after the broadcast.
According to the commentator, Flamengo's stature means that most sports broadcasts are naturally conducted from the same perspective. This, he argues, ultimately shapes sports coverage. "Because Flamengo is such a big team, the commentators tend to view the game from Flamengo's perspective. I'm not criticizing, I'm stating a fact," he stated.

Leifert also emphasized that he felt compelled to give voice to Altos-PI, which at the time faced Flamengo in the Copa do Brasil. "I had to tell the story of Altos-PI. I know it will be a bit biased toward Flamengo, because I'm from São Paulo and closer to them, but my narration was balanced," he said.
The journalist admitted he was surprised by the negative reaction. He felt the reaction was disproportionate. "Man, when I went off the air... It was almost carnage," he joked.
On that occasion, Flamengo eliminated Altos-PI with two victories – 2-0 in Rio de Janeiro and 2-1 away from home. Flamengo went on to win the Copa do Brasil that year, defeating Corinthians in the final.
